NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

A Public Hearing on the following proposed Ordinances will be held before the Finance Committee on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Council Chambers, 869 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI. pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Charter.

Complete copies of proposed Ordinances are available for public review at the City Clerk’s Office and the Cranston Central Library and can be viewed on the City’s website cranstonri.com under calendar by clicking on the meeting date.

PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 8-19-01 IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 2.40.030 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CRANSTON, 2005 ENTITLED

“ADMINISTRATION AND PERSONNEL (Salary of the Mayor)

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

Section 1: Chapter 2.40.030 of the Code of the City of Cranston, 2005, entitled “Administration and Personnel” - Salary of Mayor is hereby amended by deleting the following:

[Pursuant to Section 5.06 of the charter, the annual compensation of the mayor is fixed as follows:

January 1, 1999 thru December 31, 1999$75,000.00

January 1, 2000 thru December 31, 2000 Increased by 2 ½% to 76,875.00

January 1, 2001 thru December 31, 2001 Increased by 2 ½% to 78,796.00

January 1, 2002 thru December 31, 2002 Increased by 2 ½% to 80,765.00

And adding thereto the following:

2.04.030 - Salary of mayor.

Pursuant to Section 5.06 of the Charter, the annual compensation of the Mayor is fixed as follows:

1.That commencing January 4, 2021, the annual salary of the Mayor shall be $125,000.00 per annum.

2.That in each successive year said salary shall be increased by a 2.5% cost of living adjustment for each year that current office holder is mayor.

3.Upon the election of any subsequent Mayor the salary shall commence at $125,000.00 and be subject to the same cost of living adjustments as set forth in paragraph 2.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect on January 4, 2021.

PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 8-19-02 IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 2.40.040 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CRANSTON, 2005 ENTITLED “ADMINISTRATION AND PERSONNEL”

(Salary of Council Members)

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

Section 1. Chapter 2.04,040 entitled “Salary of council Members.” is hereby amended as follows::

Pursuant to Section 3.02 of the Charter, the annual compensation of the city council shall be as follows, commencing [January 1, 1983] January 4, 2021

Council President[$5,000.00] $10,000.00

Members of the City Council[$4,000.00] $ 8,000.00

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect on January 4, 2021.
