NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

    A Public Hearing on the following proposed Ordinances will be held before the Finance Committee on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 7:00  p.m. Council Chambers, 869 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI. pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Charter.

    Complete copies of proposed Ordinances are available for public review at the City Clerk’s Office and the Cranston Central Library and can be viewed on the City’s website cranstonri.com under calendar by clicking on the meeting date.

        “Individuals requesting interpreter services for the deaf or hard of hearing must notify the City Clerk’s Office at 461-1000 ext. 3197 seventy-two (72) hours in advance of the hearing date.”

PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO.

2019-01 RATIFYING SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S COLLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE RHODE ISLAND COUNCIL 94 AFSCME,AFL-CIO, CRANSTON PUBLIC SCHOOL EMPLOYEES, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS LOCAL 2044 

(July 1, 2017- June 30, 2020

Wage Reopen and  July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021)

 

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

 

    Section 1.  The Cranston School Committee having bargained collectively with the Rhode Island Council 94 AFSCME, AFL-CIO, Administrative Assistants Local RI-2044, which is the certified bargaining representative of Cranston Public School Employees as set forth in the previously ratified contract for 2017 – 2020, has negotiated a wage reopen and extension to June 30, 2021 as set forth in the attached Agreements.

    Section 2. The School Committee in accordance with Section 11.02.1 of the Cranston Home Rule Charter posted and made public on December 4, 2019 a copy of the proposed contract at least 72 hours notice prior to the public hearing on December 9, 2019 at which time the School Committee voted to approve the attached agreement.

    Section 3 That the Agreements in writing, to the original contract, between the School Committee and the, Rhode Island Council 94 AFSCME, AFL-CIO, Administrative Assistants Local RI-2044, copies of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof,  are hereby ratified, confirmed and approved by the City Council. 

    Section 4.   Any additional agreements, letters of understanding, contract addendums or modifications during the life of this collective bargaining agreement between the parties must be ratified by the City Council and comply with Charter sec. 11.02.1

    Section 5.  This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.

PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO. 12-19-02 RATIFYING SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE Rhode Island Laborers District Council 1322, Bus Drivers Unit (July 1, 2017- June 30, 2020 Wage Reopen)

 

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

 

    Section 1.  The Cranston School Committee having bargained collectively with the Rhode Island Laborers District Council Local Union 1322, which is the certified bargaining representative of Bus Drivers as set forth in the previously ratified contract on August 1, 2017, Ordinance No. 2017-28, which contained a wage reopen provision.

    Section 2.  The School Committee in accordance with Section 11.02.1 of the Cranston Home Rule Charter posted and made public on December 4, 2019, a copy of the proposed contract at least 72 hours notice prior to the public hearing on December 9, 2019 at which time the School Committee voted to approve the attached agreement.

    Section 3.   That the agreement in writing between the School Committee and the, Rhode Island Laborers District Council 1322, was reopened and wage renegotiated for the period 2018 – 2020,  copy of the revised fiscal note is attached hereto and made a part hereof,  and is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved by the City Council. 

    Section 4.   Any additional agreements, letters of understanding, contract addendums or modifications during the life of this collective bargaining agreement between the parties must be ratified by the City Council and comply with Charter sec. 11.02.1

    Section 5.  This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.
