Oak Lawn students give a tour of ancient civilizations

WATCHING OUT FOR DRAGONS: Benjamin Meunier and Adriana Aceto introduce guests to the ancient Chinese dragon that was an icon typically seen in China.

PASSPORTS, PLEASE: Zachary Minicucci greets visitors to China with a smile and a stamp for their passports.

WELCOMING FACES: Matt Tocco and Christian McDade act as the hosts of the event, welcoming each guest and presenting them with their passport.

WHEN IN ROME: Showing off their Roman shields and other Roman weapons are Ryan Vallier, Luke Traversie, Peter Choquette, Tyler Loopez, Madi Corey and Matt Baker.

CHEF FOR A DAY: Anthony DiBiaso introduces his guests to the foods of Italy, including gelato, wine and the spices and ingredients typically used for cooking.

The sixth grade students in Rosemary Reardan and Katie Mancuso's classes at Oak Lawn Elementary School recently had the opportunity to take their friends and family on a virtual tour of the ancient civilizations. The classes were split into small groups, each group responsible for researching and presenting a multi-sensory tour of one of the civilizations, including topics such as costume, religion, jewelry and clothing. Each guest at the event was given a passport to stamp at each stop on the tour. (Herald photos by Jen Cowart)
