Rev. Nancy Soukov, interim pastor of Edgewood Congregational Church, conducted a blessing of the animals Oct. 7 at the church. She visited each animal, offering a blessing of good health and long life, also blessing the families who care for their pets.
The church has been holding the service on the front lawn for many years, frequently attracting neighbors who are out walking their dogs on a Sunday morning. Refreshments followed the blessing, with dog, cat, rabbit, hamster and human snacks available.
Edgewood Congregational Church is an open and accepting congregation that welcomes all people "wherever they may be on life's journey. The church offers many special programs throughout the year, operates a thrift shop on Saturday mornings, and provides space for Scouting programs, AA groups and the Defenders of Animals.
