Playing in the ‘field of dreams’
Ward 6 councilman Michael Favicchio called the area of land past Mulligan’s Island on Route 2, close to Route 5, his “field of dreams.” He was approached by a constituent two years ago because the field was so rundown, and began an effort to get something better put in. Now, after a collaboration between Mayor Allan Fung, the city’s department of parks and recreation, the state’s department of environmental management, and Speaker of the House Nicholas Mattiello, a brand new fully handicap-accessible playground, along with a walking track, has been put in. Called “Oak Hill Terrace Playground,” the project cost $245,000 to complete, which was split 50-50 between the DEM and the city. A bunch of children showed up Tuesday afternoon to take advantage of the brand new playground.
