Suspect sought in home break-in

Cranston Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a brazen daytime break-in at a Doric Avenue home on Nov. 1.

The incident, which was captured by a security camera in the home, occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m. The suspect can be seen kicking open the door and entering the house before encountering an elderly male resident who was home at the time. At that point, the suspect flees.

According to Maj. Todd Patalano, police are working to collect and analyze physical evidence from the scene and to identify the suspect through the security video. That video, and several still images of the suspect, have been circulated via social media.

“We are hopeful that someone will recognize this suspect, so that we can apprehend him before he commits any more crime,” Patalano said in a statement to media members.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspect’s identity is asked to contact Detective Robert Santagata at 477-5169. The department’s main line is 942-2211, and tips can be submitted anonymously through its website, cranstonpoliceri.com.
