Police seek to ID suspect in Job Lot theft The public’s assistance is being sought in identifying a suspect in a Feb. 22 shoplifting incident at the Ocean State Job Lot location at 1441 Elmwood Ave.

According to Cranston Police, the suspect – described as a white or Hispanic male between the ages of 30 and 40, with a stocky build – entered the store at approximately 6:40 p.m. on the date in question and stole several items. It is unclear whether he had any accomplices or what his direction of travel was after leaving the store.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity is asked to contact Detective Bob Lindsay at 477-5142. Cranston man sentenced to life in prison for 2016 murder A Cranston man has been sentenced to life in prison in connection with the 2016 slaying of his former girlfriend’s new boyfriend.

Fredi Lopez, 35, was handed the sentence March 21 before Superior Court Justice Joseph A. Montalbano. He pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder on Jan. 2.

According to prosecutors, Lopez entered the home of his former girlfriend on Alverson Street in Providence early on the morning of July 30, 2016.

“When approached by [his former girlfriend] and the victim, Andres Arguijo Acosta, the defendant killed the unarmed victim by stabbing him multiple times with a kitchen knife,” reads a statement from the office of Attorney General Peter Neronha.

The case was investigated by Detective Danny O’Connell of the Providence Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Daniel Guglielmo and Special Assistant Attorney General Malena Lopez Mora.
