Rev. Frank H. Weeks

Rev. Frank H. Weeks, of Cranston, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the age of 89. He was the loving and faithful husband of Madelyn V. (Penney) Weeks for 66 years.

Frank was born on February 9, 1930 in Revere, Mass., the son of the late Elmer and Annie Mae (Treat) Weeks. Rev. Weeks was a beloved husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather and pastor. He was devoted to the mission of Christ’s gospel and to his family.

He attended the New England School of Theology and was ordained as an Advent Christian Pastor in 1955. Pastor Weeks served churches in Lynn and Fall River, Mass., Deer Isle, Maine, Whitefield, New Hampshire, Galesburg, Illinois and North Kingstown and Providence. In the late 1960s, while still in the full-time ministry, Rev. Weeks became bi-vocational and worked his way up to a position of tax officer for RI Hospital Trust Bank.

In retirement Rev. Weeks served as interim pastor at Church of the Master in Providence, Meshanticut Park Church in Cranston, Westerly Baptist Church in Westerly and Spring Green Baptist Church in Warwick. He also served pulpit supply in many churches throughout New England.

The strength of his ministry was his ability to connect with people of all walks of life. He is highly spoken of and respected by his pastoral colleagues. For his work in area churches, he was named “2001 Senior Citizen of the Year” in Cranston.

Rev. Weeks cherished his family, especially his wife, Madelyn. They shared in the ministry to the churches as well as raising their children. He was active in many of the activities for his children and later his grandchildren, including high school football games, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and many others. He also chaired the school board for Cranston Academy, a satellite school of West Bay Christian Academy. He was affectionately known as Grampa to his grandchildren and Grampa-Grampa to his precious great-grandchildren.

He was the husband of Madelyn Weeks; the father of Karen W. Carnevale and her husband Frank of Cranston, Frank C. Weeks and his wife Sandra of Cranston, Alan J. Weeks and his wife Mary Ann of Scituate, the late Gary K. Weeks, and Barbara Patch of Enosburg Falls, Vermont; Grampa of Dr. Sara Carnevale Fearon, Brian E. Weeks, David Carnevale, Timothy Weeks, Craig Weeks, MD, Laura Weeks, Susan Gancarz and Scott Ovitt; Grampa-Grampa of Samuel, Michael, Hannah, Leonard, Madelyn and Luke; and brother of three late siblings, Elmer Weeks, Warren Weeks and Doris Boyington.

The funeral service was held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, on Thursday, October 10. Burial followed in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Calling hours were Wednesday, Oct. 9.
