Mixed Magic Theatre formed the dynamic Exult Choir in 2006 with a mission to preserve and celebrate the great African American tradition of gospel music. Each year since then the choir has presented a series of concerts annually that features collections of songs that include Negro spirituals, traditional hymns, and the gospel music that would later influence blues, rhythm and blues, and rock music. REVIVAL DAY ! is a concert celebrating Gospel in “The Old Time Way” with songs from Clara Ward, Thomas Dorsey, Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Bessie Smith & many more!
The acclaimed Mixed Magic Exult Choir is gearing up for this spring concert. Music director Delbert Leon Collins has chosen a variety of songs that cover the full spectrum of gospel and spiritual music that inspires REVIVAL DAY ! Under his direction REVIVAL DAY ! is an ambitious and uplifting journey of praise. The audience will enjoy a soul-stirring evening at McVinney Auditorium with one of Rhode Island's premier choirs. The show will also feature several special guest gospel singers and some very enchanting dramatic surprises. This family friendly event welcomes All ages !
