The Providence Journal is pleased to announce a new hardcover coffee-table book: "Rhode Island Memories: The Early Years." This beautiful heirloom-quality book will show off Rhode Island history from the early years to 1939 through stunning memorable photos. Providence Journal photographers have been taking photos for well over 100 years — everything from fires and police chases to political rallies, holiday dinners and baseball games. The famous and the infamous, the small community events and the great moments of Rhode Island’s history — it’s all in there. The book is filled with Providence Journal images from the archives of The Providence Journal, in addition to images shared by readers, as well as images carefully selected from the follow-ing organizations: Bristol Historical and Preservation Society, Jamestown Historical Society, Newport Historical Society, Pawtucket Public Library, Providence Athenæum, Provi-dence Public Library, Rhode Island Historical Society, Rhode Island Jewish Historical Association, Rhode Island State Archives, South County History Center, and Tomaquag Museum.
