The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensembles will perform at Rhode Island College’s Sapinsley Hall on Sunday January 26 at 3 p.m. Led by David Neves, Ed.D. and John Knasas, the ensembles consist of top student musicians hailing from various communities in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and range in experience from 6th to 12th grade.
“The works being performed expose the students to literature not usually played by typical school ensembles and represent the epitome of symphonic winds,” said Dr. David Neves, director of the RI Philharmonic Wind Ensemble program. “The groups have been working hard to prepare this special program and look forward to showcasing their achievements to everyone in attendance.”
During the school year, the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Wind Ensembles provides a quality wind ensemble rehearsal and performance experience for talented young musicians from southern New England. Symphonic Winds is designed for advanced middle and high school students, and Wind Ensemble is for intermediate to advanced middle and high school students.
