Robert commits to D3 NEC

Cranston West three-sport athlete Noah Robert recently committed to play Division III lacrosse for the New England College Pilgrims of Henniker, New Hampshire in the spring of 2021.

The Pilgrims have worked their way to becoming a powerhouse program in Division III. NEC has won four straight conference titles, while compiling a 32-0 conference record and qualifying for the NCAA tournament for the past two seasons.

Robert was excited to make his decision official, and to become a future member of NEC’s winning culture.

“It feels so good to finally get it out of the way, it’s been such a long process applying to college, never mind finding one to commit to. (NEC) is a winning college, in the past two years they have gone 32-0 and made the NCAA tournament each year. That really attracted me, the fact that they go to the tournament every year and get to compete against the best talent in the division. It just felt like a good fit,” said Robert.

Robert is also a standout football player and wrestler for the Falcons. Although he was interested in competing in each sport collegiately, he decided to take a shot on lacrosse when NEC came knocking.

“I went back and forth between which sport that I wanted to play my whole life. I’ve always told myself, ‘whatever sport I can break away with and get an opportunity to play (in college), go for it.’ I had an opportunity with lacrosse this summer when I played with my travel team and I took it. With the Coyotes, we traveled all around the area facing some of the best talent in New England and there were a lot of college coaches there,” said Robert.

Robert will now focus on finishing his high school career strong as he is set to begin his senior football season. Robert is excited to take the next step and to test his metal against some of the top high school players in the country.

“I never thought that this day was going to come, I never thought it would actually happen. I am looking forward to the (competition) at college, being with all of these different players and people that are all competing for the same thing. I’m looking forward to playing in that type of environment,” said Robert, who will also miss his lacrosse teammates and coaches. “I’m going to miss my coaches and teammates. I have grown a lot with these kids and it has become more like a brotherhood than friendships. It’s going to feel like leaving family.”
