Thousands of motorists pass a utility easement off Natick Avenue across from Cranston West every day and probably don’t think to look at it. But Erin Spencer of Warwick is an artist and she spotted the unusual terrain bordered by trees and a rock outcropping while bringing her kids to camp. On Tuesday she set up an easel, got out her paints and went to work. Now that she has captured a small image of the scene, she may use it for something larger. The Spencers moved to Rhode Island about 12 years ago and it’s not likely she’ll run out of landscapes to paint. (Cranston Herald photo)
