Cranston’s delegation in the Rhode Island House of Representatives, represented by Rep. Stephen Ucci, left, and Speaker Nicholas Mattiello, right, recently presented a $6,500 legislative grant to the Cranston Parks and Recreation Department for 10 scholarships for elementary school children to attend the eight-week summer Playground Camp this year. City Council President Michael Farina, second from left, requested the grant on behalf of the council. He was joined at the State House on April 9 by, from left, Lisa Kirshenbaum, grant writer for the City Council; Caitlyn Blankenship, community engagement specialist, and Ayana Crichton, director, both of the One Cranston Initiative; and Scott Sevegny, recreation program aide for Parks and Recreation.
