A rambunctious group of seniors from the Cranston Enrichment Center, determined to be healthy and come up as the winners, were joined by Mayor Allan Fung Tuesday for the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island kickoff walk of the Step Up Challenge. Three senior centers, one in each region of the state, with the highest number of average steps recorded by participants over four weeks will receive a $2,500 grant to be used for health and wellness activities for its members. The kickoff was held at Warwick City Park, and following comments by Corey McCarty (at right in the lineup) of the Blue Cross customer advisory solutions team, contestants racked up some steps walking the park trails. Teams from senior center in West Warwick, Warwick and Coventry as well as people from the Blue Cross & Blue Shield Blue Store on Route 2 attended the kickoff. (Herald photo)
