Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down three cents this week, according to AAA Northeast.

AAA Northeast’s February 17 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.46 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is 3 cents above the national average of $2.43. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 17 cents lower at $2.29 per gallon.

“Prices locally are already down 11 cents from just the start of the year,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of AAA Public and Government Affairs. “Continued strong supplies and less, wintertime, demand, is a good sign for motorists heading into the second half of February.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 71 cents, from a low of $2.29 to a high of $3.00. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area.
