Trial period on forgiveness of child library fines

To the Editor:
At the Warwick Public Library, we are trying something new this summer, and the Beacon has really been supportive in getting the word out.
Last Thursday’s article, “Library to eliminate children’s fines, hopes to bring in more patrons,” was very informative.
The Library Board of Trustees agreed to a trial period of forgiving fines for children and teen items for the months of July and August. If this experiment goes well, we hope to be able to remove all fines from children and teen items moving forward.
The library has two main goals: to get materials into the hands of the citizens of Warwick, and to have those items returned once your checkout has elapsed.
So, if you have a card with overdue fines from children or teen items please stop by for a visit and get reacquainted with all of the wonderful programs and entertainment the Warwick Library has to offer.

Deputy Director,
Warwick Public Library
