Earn While You Learn

Tri-Town Community Action Agency has openings for youth ages 14 and older who would like to spend the summer exploring career opportunities, getting work experience and earning money in the process. The program, funded by the Workforce Partnership of Greater R.I., begins in the second week of July and runs for six weeks. During this time, youth will learn about careers and how to prepare for them. They will also receive on-the-job training at local businesses, and tour businesses to see the skills required for employment. Students will also attend training sessions, where they will discuss job readiness issues and learn the skills necessary for future success in high-growth industries such as health care, finance, construction, marine trades, information, hospitality and green technologies. Space is limited. The program is open to 110 students living in Johnston, North Providence, Smithfield, Scituate, Foster, North Smithfield, Burrillville and Glocester. To learn more, call Tri-Town Community Action at 519-1929.
