Sixth graders at Hugh B. Bain Middle School had a special guest on May 25. Providence Postmaster Jeanne Jackson visited students and taught them how to address a letter and said each student would receive an envelope and stamp to send a letter to a loved one. Jackson and Bain Principal Keith Croft unveiled one of the Post Office’s newest stamps which was from Shel Silverstein’s “The Giving Tree.” After reading “The Giving Tree” to students, Jackson quizzed sixth graders on the Post Office – asking them how much stamps cost (answers ranged from 5 cents to 3 dollars – the correct answer being 58 cents), what the first three numbers of Cranston’s zip code is and how many zip codes Cranston has.
