He was recognized for doing a “great job for the Town of Johnston and the athletes of the town at all levels,” he was honored for his coverage of events of all kinds. LOTS OF FAMILIAR SIGNS: Although the school building might be different for Garden City Elementary students this year, as they attend the Chester W. Barrows building while their home school undergoes a major renovation project, there were lots of things that were familiar to the students as they made their way into the school. Signs and banners such as this one, signed by the students, could be seen along the way.

On Tuesday, schools across Cranston opened their doors and welcomed students back for a new school year. The first day was a staggered start day, with all elementary grades, along with sixth- and ninth-grade students, arriving for their first day. Upperclassmen from the high schools were spending their first days doing community service at the elementary schools, providing extra sets of hands as they helped out staff with welcoming the younger students back to the buildings after a 2020-21 year that included distance learning for many.
