Celebrating all types
of mothering
In recognition of Mother’s Day the Johnston Senior Center celebrated “all women” last Friday.
“Here at the center, we recognize the important role all women play, and the contributions of mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, daughters, neighbors, and friends, who support all of us,” said Richard DelFino, executive director of the center. “So many women have played a role in nurturing the lives of members of this community.”
Every woman was presented with a fresh flower donated by Cherry Hill Florists, and a variety of gifts for guests were donated by Lori Meo of United Health. There was also music, provided by Guy Lombari, and the musical selections were, appropriately, mostly songs in recognition of moms everywhere.
DelFino said that many present not only enjoyed the entertainment but a chance to be together and share stories of traditions, families and people who have touched their lives in “a motherly way.”
