The City of Cranston is convening a public hearing to review the draft 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan and One-Year Annual Action Plan for the Program Year 2025. The City of Cranston is expecting to receive approximately $5 million over the 2025-2029 Plan period, approximately $1 million annually. The Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan are required documents by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These documents assist the city in identifying how it will invest CDBG funds in housing, homelessness services, economic development, public infrastructure, and community programs between July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2029.

The primary purpose of these funds is to benefit low- and moderate-income persons. Through the allocation of these funds, the City of Cranston plans to support viable urban communities by meeting the following objectives: (1) provide safe and decent affordable housing; (2) create and maintain a suitable living environment; and (3) expand economic opportunities.

The City of Cranston is making available a draft of its 5-Year Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan for public review and comment during a 30-day public comment period from April 1, 2025, to May 3, 2025. These documents will be available for review starting on April 1, 2025 online at https://www.cranstonri.gov/departments/community-development/. Additionally, a copy of each will be available for review at the Department of Community Development, 35 Sockanosset Cross Road, Unit #6, Cranston, Rhode Island 02910 between the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm.

A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 6:00pm to provide an opportunity for the public to offer comments on the 5-Year Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan. The meeting will be held at the Cranston Senior Center, 1070 Cranston St., Cranston, RI 02910.
