Jan. 23, Family Event: Story Time & Craft will be hosted by the OneCranston Health Equity Zone on Thurs., Jan. 23, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Pastore Center, 155 Gansett Ave., Cranston. Jan. 25, 61st Anniversary Burns Supper, by the Scottish American Society of RI, celebrating Scotland’s most famous poet, Robert Burns! The evening will include a Scottish-themed raffle, traditional Haggis Ceremony, presentation of The Immortal Memory, Full Pipe Band Performance and Ceilidh dancing. Feb. 03, The Oaklawn Grange is hosting a Surgical Seniors Workshop on Mon., Feb. 03 at 6:30 p.m. at the Oaklawn Grange, 24 Searle Avenue in Cranston. The workshop is for seniors and caregivers who may have questions about how to prepare themselves and their homes pre- and post-surgery. The goals of the workshop are to empower patients to become more engaged in their own care; inform patients of what to expect after surgery, allowing more time for planning and informing caretakers and family about aftercare both short-term and long-term; and prepare older patients with the ability to make the best pre- and post-surgical decisions. NAMI-RI offers mental health courses in January NAMI-RI, the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will offer two Family-to-Family courses, starting in January. This a free 8-session educational program for family, significant others, and friends of people living with mental illness. The in-person course will be held in Middletown, RI at St. Lucy's Catholic Church beginning Saturday, January 11 at 3:00 PM. This same course will also be held on Zoom starting Wednesday, January 15th from 5:30-8:00 PM. Wickford Art Festival Artist Applications Now Open North Kingstown, RI – The Wickford Art Association (WAA) is excited to announce that artist applications for the 62nd annual Wickford Art Festival are now open. The outdoor art festival will take place on the weekend of July 12 & 13, 2025. Now through March 15, artists are invited to submit their applications to be considered for participation in this event. NAMI-RI Offers Family Support Groups; the RI chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness offers free support groups for families and friends of loved ones struggling with mental health. Groups are led by trained facilitators with experience with family members. Meetings last 1.5 hours, and everyone gets a chance to share.
