Bolts run to 8th place at state meet

By ALEX SPONSELLER The Rhode Island Cross Country State Championships were held this past weekend at Ponaganset High School, and many locals made some noise on the big stage.

Here is a look at some of the local results from the event: BOYS

The Bishop Hendricken boys took first place as a unit while Pilgrim took 18th and Toll Gate 19th.

Hendricken’s Troy Silvestri took seventh place for the Hawks while Wilson Jablonski finished 10th. Hendricken’s Keegan Tierney finished 13th followed by teammate Evan McGregor in 14th. Andrew Frezza placed 18th for the Hawks while teammate Josh Breard took 24th.

Hendricken’s Aidan Moreira finished 35th for Hendricken, while Joshua Maynard took 75th for Toll Gate. Johnston’s Noah Van Horn placed 76th for the Panthers.

Deem Quinn finished 80th for Cranston East, followed by Pilgrim’s Ian Bubar in 83rd. Nicholas Cobb took 87th for East, followed by Pilgrim’s Jordan Lopes in 93rd.

Pilgrim’s Liam Holmes took 106th while Toll Gate’s John Maynard finished 110th. Tyler Boudreau placed 114th for Pilgrim, followed by Toll Gate’s Andrew St. Laurent in 118th.

Jack Smith finished 126th for Pilgrim, followed by Toll Gate’s Bryce Barker in 128th. Aiden Spieler finished 130th for Pilgrim, followed by Toll Gate’s Bryan Adams at 132nd.

Cian Roberts placed 136th for the Titans, while teammate Ryan Brady took 141st. Tyler Fuller finished 146th for Pilgrim. GIRLS

Cranston East finished eighth overall in the girls competition.

Keaney Bayha finished 10th overall for Pilgrim, while Cranston East’s Maddison Dutra took 21st. Alison Pankowicz finished 26th for Toll Gate, followed by teammate Oce Lowe in 28th.

Stella Loezos finished 27th for East, while teammate Zoe Catrambone took 47th. East’s Arianna Cunha finished 80th, while teammate Madeline Baxter took 113th.

Caroline Brennick finished 129th for the Bolts, while teammate Miko Lehnert took 139th.
