I live in Warwick Neck. I love it here! Because things pretty much stay the same, it’s hard to miss a new business opening in my area.

For years, there has been a store at the top of Meadow View and Warwick Neck Avenue. Years ago, the owner sold Christmas trees. Several years ago, it had a new name and owner, Anchor Art & Antiques. The owner would display beautiful wreaths outside and had a variety of antiques and gifts inside. I never stopped in because I make wreaths.

Right around the start of COVID, I noticed a new sign, “guns for sale.” I’m not a gun person but it sure did get my interest! Wreaths and guns?

Finally, last week I stopped in. I needed to understand the interesting variety of wares sold. There I met Jim, the owner. He told me that he started selling guns when COVID killed his gift store business. I knew from the line outside another local gun store, that he had a great idea!

He has quite the selection of guns and all the things that go along with gun-owning. But, what about the wreaths? I then met his lovely mom, Dorothy, or Dot as she likes to be called. It turns out, she makes the wreaths! She is very creative, and the wreaths are beautiful!

This is yet another example of how business owners had to be creative and think outside the box. In my opinion, she is not charging enough for her wreaths. So, if you are thinking of learning about guns or want to buy a gun, stop in and talk to Jim. If you want to meet a lovely woman and mom, ask for Dot!
