Elaine M. (Tedeschi) Couto, 81, of Assonet, MA, formerly of Largo, FL and West Warwick, RI, died peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the Sachem Health and Rehabilitation Center in East Bridgewater, MA.

Born in Providence, RI on November 8, 1941, Elaine grew up in Cranston. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth (Quigley) Tedeschi.

Elaine is survived by her son, Richard J. Couto Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Assonet, two brothers, Benjamin Tedeschi of Kiawah Island, SC, and James Tedeschi and his wife Dorothy of Greenville, RI. She was the proud grandmother of Jason, Grace and Kelsie Couto. She was a loving aunt to her niece Kristen, and nephews Timothy, Benjamin and Thomas.

A graduate of St. Mary Academy - Bay View, Elaine attended Salve Regina College in Newport, RI.

Elaine began her career performing clerical duties at Gilbane Construction Company. She later worked in retail for many years, managing the Hallmark card store at the Warwick Mall. She was also employed by Edwards Supermarket in Cranston, RI. After relocating to Largo, FL in 2003, she was employed at HOPE Villages of America (formerly RCS of Pinellas County) in Clearwater, FL.

An avid car enthusiast, Elaine enjoyed recalling the days when she drove her first car, a 1961 Chevrolet Impala Ss, which was gifted to her by her father. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Bernard's Church, 30 S. Main Street in Assonet, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be kindly made to the Alzheimer's Association by visiting alz.org
