Free concert series FirstWorks Summer Beats concludes this Sunday, July 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Roger Williams Park Bandstand.
The popular summer concert series began with Dobet Gnahoré, a Grammy Award-winning singer/dancer, on July 11, and continued with Quitapenas, the exciting Afro-Latin combo last Sunday.
La Excelencia is a 12-piece supernova Salsa dura band that combines traditional salsa with a modern unapologetic sound that never fails to fill the dance floor.
The concert is free, with several chairs available next to the bandstand. Many people brought their own chairs and blankets to last week’s concert, sitting under the park’s shade trees.
The dance floor was filled with people of all ages.
The best route to the park is the Elmwood Ave. exit off Route 95. There is plenty of free parking, plus a taco truck with great food.
