Johnston High students: 'Let’s save lives!'

Johnston Senior High School is hosting its annual summer blood drive on June 28, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. The blood drive will take place in the school’s cafeteria. Our region is currently in a blood emergency and the Rhode Island Blood Center (RIBC) is in need of people willing to donate.

To put this is perspective; blood is the only thing in a hospital room that can’t be man-made. There are all sorts of machines and gadgets that a hospital can buy, however, blood is something that has to be donated in order for it to make it into the operating room.

Johnston High School has been recognized multiple times by the RIBC for its commitment in bringing in donors and the community is looking to doing it again.

To make an appointment for the drive, visit this link: www.donate.ribc.org/donor/schedules/sponsor_code (and type in 0441 as the sponsor code, after which the Johnston High School drive will pop up and you can schedule your appointment).

Editor’s Note: Talia Laflamme serves as the Johnston High School National Honor Society President. If you have more questions about the blood drive, contact Glenn Halverson at 401-265-1431.
