The exodus from the City Hall Annex offices in the former Buttonwood Community Center and Randall Holden School started this week and will continue next week as municipal offices are consolidated in the Saw Tooth building, built as part of the Apponaug Mill and now owned by AAA Northeast. AAA bought the building at auction from the state with the plan to convert it into a call center. That plan changed with the pandemic and Mayor Frank Picozzi negotiated a 15-year lease to use most of the extensively renovated building as city offices. As part of the lease, the municipal offices built to city specifications are also furnished. The city finance offices and purchasing located in the City Hall basement also moved to the Saw Tooth despite the reluctance of City Finance Director Peder Schaefer who was happy in the basement. Work continued this week on a parking lot off Greenwich Avenue that will provide access to second floor city offices via a pedestrian bridge. (Warwick Beacon photos)
