Networking Event

Pat Cruz Events will host its June Networking Event on June 22 at the Park Theatre and Event Center. The 'meet and greet' style event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Pat Cruz Networking Events were created for local business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, and career-minded professionals from all industries who want to build their network, find new job candidates, meet potential employers or simply get out and meet new people. You'll find no lengthy speeches, sales pitches or expensive ticket prices – just a few valuable hours of connecting, communicating and collaborating with real people in a relaxed atmosphere.

There will be complimentary appetizers and cash bar. For those who'd like to update their business headshot, Onyx Media will be onsite taking photos for a nominal fee. Limited vendor tables may be purchased in advance for those interested in specifically showcasing products and services at the venue.


Quarter Auction

The Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Barn will host a quarter auction on June 16 at 645 Oakland Beach Ave., Warwick. There will be vendors from 31, Carolyn’s Kitchen, Loofability, ColorStreet, Tupperware, Rising Butterfly Designs, Magnabilites ad more. There will also be a 50/50 raffle to benefit Best Buddies of RI. Doors open at 6 p.m. and paddles are up at 6:30 p.m. It will be $5 for five paddles.


Event at Joy Homestead

Celebrate the 241st anniversary of the March to Victory of General Rochambeau through Cranston, Scituate and Coventry on June 18, 1781, on his way to victory over the British at Yorktown, with tea, homemade biscuits and strawberries. At 6 p.m. on June 18, the Cranston Historical Society invites you to the Joy Homestead (156 Scituate Ave., Cranston) to enjoy an early evening of pleasantries including celebrating the march of the French forces of King Louis XVI through Cranston to join General Washington to defeat the British. Collectable Car Show

Tri City Elks Lodge 1915 W. Shore Rd. Warwick presents a Custom Collectible Car Show on Thursdays at 5 p.m. around the back of the lodge. Bring your auto and show it off or just come and enjoy the night. There will be music and food for sale and the Tiki Bar will be open for beverages! Additionally, Tuesdays are the lodge’s Jeep Night at 5 p.m.  Jeeps and 4x4's of all shapes and sizes are welcome. The Tiki Bar will be open; food by PB&J's will be available to purchase.


Drive-Thru Food Pantry

Spring Green Memorial Church will hold its monthly drive thru food pantry on June 18. Grocery bags of food will be distributed at 11 a.m. in the parking lot in the back of the church. If you have any questions, please call the church office at 463-8328 or email springgreenchurch@yahoo.com.


WCFA Art Camps

Spark your child's creativity this summer! At Warwick Center for the Arts (WCFA), we believe that arts education should start early and be available to all. Kids love to express themselves and have fun -- we provide the supplies, inspiration and guidance -- campers provide the creativity! This season, with the renovations made to our courtyard patio and more, we expect to offer even more of a variety and plenty of outdoor art making and games.  Summer camps will run for six weeks from June 27 to Aug. 12; there is also a tentative seventh week which would run from Aug. 15 to 19. Yoga in the Gallery

Join Warwick Center for the Arts for "The Art of Wellbeing: Yoga in the Gallery" on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. through July 8. This yoga class is an all-level experience. You will learn to stretch and strengthen your body with breath and movement. Modifications are provided for the lesser experienced practitioner. Pet Fest

EGAPL Heart of RI will hold a Pet fest on June 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 44 Worthington Road, Cranston. The organization will have small local businesses, the things they specialize in, raffles and a day of family fun for everyone. Proceeds will help Rhode Island small businesses as well as help EGAPL Heart of RI with continued rescue efforts.


Monthly Grab & Go Meals

Food for the Soul is a food provision mission for those in need of a meal. Asbury UMC has partnered with Lakewood Baptist Church in Warwick to provide "grab and go" meals once a month. Pick up date is June 18 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Lakewood Baptist Church 255 Atlantic Avenue, right on a bus line. Come as you are, leave feeling loved and cared about.


Pilgrim 58th Reunion

Join Pilgrim High School on July 9 for an informal class reunion at the East Greenwich Veterans Firemen’s Hall. The event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. and Ray Renzi will provide the music. Wolf Rock Caterers will provide a buffet ($35 per person). The class picture will cost $17. Checks can be made payable to PHS Class of 64 and individuals should respond by June 10. Scholarship
Opportunity

RIBBA (Rhode Island Black Business Association) in partnership with the Institute of Economic Empowerment and Development are now accepting applications for their 2022 scholarship. Award amounts range from $500 to $1,000 for each student. To be considered for the scholarship, individuals must be a Rhode Island resident, identify as Black or Afro-Latinx, be a high school senior in the fall of 2022 and begin their freshmen year at an accredited college or university in the fall of 2023. EP Class of ‘72 Reunion

The East Providence High School Class of 1972 will hold its 50th reunion on August 14 at the East Providence Yacht Club (9 Pier Road, East Providence). At 1 p.m. there will be a meet and greet, while “Tanya McEntire and the Professors” will provide music from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pub-style food and drinks are available for purchase, and the event is free for all class members and their partners. Artists Workshops

Applications opened May 1 for RISCA's general Operating Support for Artists. The program provides grants of $6,000 for three consecutive years (totaling $18,000) for artists to work toward large, specific and self-identified goals in their art practice.

To assist in the application process and meet the July 1 deadline, Arts Council staff member, Mollie Flanagan, has scheduled virtual workshops and office hours throughout May and June. (RSVP is required).

Workshops: June 1, 4 p.m. Drop in Office Hours: June 25, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; June 30, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., July 1, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. One-on-one meetings start June 2.


Art Exhibit

The East Greenwich Art Club will exhibit artwork at the East Greenwich Free Library (82 Peirce St., East Greenwich) from May 31 to June 24. Animal Program

Theatre Summer
Programs

The Rhode Island Youth Theatre Summer Programs will have two summer programs at the Historic Park Theatre and Event Center. “The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition” is for ages 7 to 16 and will take July 25 through August 6. No experience needed. Shows will take place August 5 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and August 6 at 7 p.m. The second program is “The Music Man, Jr.” which will run from August 8 to August 19.
