NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

A Public Hearing on the following proposed Ordinances will be held before the Ordinance Committee on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 869 Park Avenue, City Hall, Cranston, R.I. pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Charter, in accordance with the RI General Laws Chapter 45-24-53 for the purpose of considering the following items listed on the agenda.  Remote participation is also available by using the logon information provided below as posted on the City’s website at www.cranstonri.gov and Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.ri.gov.

PROPOSED ORD. NO. 10-22-01 IN AMENDMENT OF TITLE 10, CHAPTER 32, SECTION 270 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CRANSTON, 2005, ENTITLED “MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC – NO PARKING BETWEEN 8:00 A.M. AND 7:00 P.M. MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY”
(Tabor St. West Side)

It is Ordained by the City of Cranston City Council as follows:

Section 1.  Title 10, Chapter 32, Section 270 captioned as “No parking—Between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.—Weekdays” is hereby amended by adding the following street:

    Tabor Street, west side, for the entire length of the street.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.

PROPOSED ORD. NO. 10-22-02 IN AMENDMENT OF TITLE 2 CHAPTER 40 SECTION 020 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CRANSTON, 2005, ENTITLED “ADMINISTRATION AND PERSONNEL - MUNICPAL COURT- Appointment, Term and Qualifications of Judge of the Municipal Court”

It is Ordained by the City of Cranston City Council as follows:

Section 1.  Title 2, Chapter 40, Section 020 is hereby amended by adding the following:

2.40.020 – Appointment, term and qualifications of judge of the municipal court

A. The court shall be composed of one chief judge, one senior associate judge, three five associate judges and two auxiliary judges appointed by the city council. The judges shall serve until his or her successor shall be duly appointed.

B. The term of the appointment for the judges shall be two years, to begin when the city council appoints the first judge and to run concurrent with the term of office for the city council members. Thereafter, said judge shall be appointed the first Monday in January, and the term shall run concurrent with the term of office for the city council.

C. All municipal court judges shall be a lawyer admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the state of Rhode Island, in good standing, and shall have not less than two ten years’ experience in the active practice of law.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.
