John Rainone, who grew up in Warwick and is a CPA with Disanto and Priest where he is Principal in the Audit Department and leader of Real Estate and Construction Group, has been named the new Board of Governor’s Chair at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Warwick. He succeeds John Delemontex of Wakefield, who held the position for eight years and is stepping down as required by the Board’s term limits. Delemontex will remain on the Board and assume the position of Area Council Representative for the Warwick Club, interacting with other Rhode Island Club representatives to ensure optimum coordination of efforts. “We are incredibly grateful for the leadership John Delemontex provided over the years,” said CEO Lara D’Antuono. “During his tenure as Chair we grew tremendously, including opening a 3rd branch to better assist more children and their families who need our impactful and affordable services.”
Rainone takes the helm prior to holding the 2nd Vice President position, where he, among other things, co-chaired the Club’s popular annual charity golf tournament.
Rainone’s interest in being on the board started when his friend and now fellow board member, Matt Wischnowsky, asked Rainone to volunteer with a golf tournament.
“I was involved in the Boys and Girls Club a little bit when I was younger, and always loved what the club did for the community and the kids,” said Rainone.
With that, he jumped at the opportunity to help.
“I was able to interact with some of the other board members and employees of the club, while also gaining an understanding of how important the club is to the community. A few months later I was honored to be asked to join the board,” Rainone said.
Rainone attended St. Kevin’s School and Bishop Hendricken while growing up in Warwick. After getting married, he and his wife, Michelle, lived on Edgehill Road in Warwick from 2008 to 2018 when they moved to North Kingstown. Rainone and his wife have two children – Brendan who’s seven and Madeline who’s two.
“I couldn’t ask for a better Board or Board leadership,” said D’Antuono. “Our Club and community are better places because of active volunteers such as John Rainone and John Delemontex, who give valuable time and support. They are exceptional. Their devotion to our members and mission, coupled with their thoughtful business acumen helped us thrive before COVID, remain open and effective throughout the pandemic, and positioned to thrive in the upcoming months and years.”
Other Board changes include Ray Desmarais of Johnston assuming the position of 2nd Vice President and Steve Tilley of Jamestown temporarily filled the Secretary slot.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Warwick operates 3 branches and serves children ages 5-18. The Club gives special concern to those from disadvantaged circumstances and guides all members toward becoming productive, responsible members of society.
“I had many opportunities growing up in Warwick. I feel that all children need the chance to have experiences that keep them safe and help them develop skills to reach their full potential. The Boys and Girls Club of Warwick delivers on those objectives and I’m proud of the work the Club does to help kids, parents, and ultimately the community. It really makes a difference,” Rainone said.
