‘Residents’ concerns go unanswered’

Posted

To the Editor,

As a proponent of moving the police training gun range, I was disappointed to see Capt. [Justin] Dutra characterize concerns about the range as an “anti-firearm” issue. That couldn’t be further from the truth. As a proud Blue Card holder, I fully support responsible firearm use and training. What this issue is really about is the unacceptable level of noise produced by the guns being used at the complex and the administration’s and elected representatives' continued inaction and lack of collaboration to find a reasonable resolution.

For too long, the administration has dragged its feet while residents' concerns go unanswered. City representatives have yet to offer meaningful input or discussion on this issue. Cranston deserves leadership that listens, engages and works toward solutions – not one that dismisses valid concerns with mischaracterizations.

It’s time for transparency, accountability and action.

Respectfully,

Lauryn Pregoni

Cranston
