The Cranston West softball team earned a 6-1 win over Cumberland last week to improve to 5-2 this spring.

Gianna DiSpirito and Payton Wells each drove in runs in the win while Mia Crudale got the victory in the circle. Crudale tossed three innings, allowing one run and striking out four batters. Mia Sampaio pitched four innings and allowed just one hit while striking out nine batters.

West faced Pilgrim on Tuesday afternoon, but the results were unavailable at press time.

Tiverton 6, East 5

The Bolts took their first league loss since 2023 when they were edged by Tiverton on Monday in 10 innings. Tiverton would get the game-tying run in the top half of the sixth inning to force extras, then would score three in the top of the 10th. Despite East responding with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning, it was unable to find the tying score.

Nevaeh Fatorma led East with three RBI while Lexi Montalban added another pair of runs. Montalban pitched all 10 innings and finished with 11 strikeouts.

East was back at it against Davies on Wednesday.

St. Ray’s 3, Johnston 0

Isabella Souza helped the Saints hold off Johnston as she threw a no-hitter to get the win. Souza finished the day with 16 strikeouts.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

West 3, Toll Gate 0

The Falcons stayed hot by sweeping Toll Gate last week.

Ashton Make finished with four aces and 15 assists. Kevin Dilone also added three kills in the win.
