The Cranston field hockey co-op’s season came to a close last week when eventual champion Smithfield pulled off the 2-1 win in the Division III Semifinals.
Abbygail Theul scored early in the first quarter to put the Thunderbirds ahead but Smithfield would get the tying goal just before the halftime break. The Sentinels would get the game winner deep in the second half to upset the second-seeded Thunderbirds, who went 2-0-1 against Smithfield in the regular season.
FOOTBALL
Cranston East 21, East Greenwich 14
The Bolts won their season finale by beating the Avengers in overtime, which would help them clinch the final spot in the Division III playoffs.
Saqari Monroe led the way for the Bolts by scoring three touchdowns and rushing for over 100 yards.
