That could have well been the question posed by Oakland Beach students if they got to visit the school library earlier this week for there was a 4 to five foot deep trench running across the room and a mountain of earth. The objective of the excavation was a cast iron sewer pipe most likely installed when a wing was added to the school in the 1960s. According to a member of the Ahlborg Construction crew that worked throughout the weekend, the pipe was bowed causing a backup into restrooms. Classes were placed on distant learning Friday. By Monday new piping had been installed and in-person classes resumed. What was left was burying the pipe that was done by hand. (Warwick Beacon photo)
