With the 4 to 6 grade book club at the Children’s Room of the Warwick Public Library reading the Wishtree by Katherine Applegate, children’s library Andrea Hutnak and youth services coordinator Pam Miech thought a wish tree appropriate. It caught a lot of attention with 147 wishes being tied to the willow-like branches of the tree. Wishes ran the gamut from, “I wish Covid was over” and “I wish I could see my grandma” to “I wish I was a unicorn. “ The 4-6 Grade Book Club will be reading The Ickabog, by J.K. Rowling starting Jan. 26 at 6:30 p.m. while the 2nd and 3rd club will read Bob by Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead starting Jan. 25 at 6:30. Hutnak explained club members read the books on their own and return to the library in six weeks to discuss the books. At left is Miech. Hutnak, who said she would burn the wishes in her outdoor fire pit when the tree comes down, is at right. (Warwick Beacon photo)
