What do you like about hanging wreaths in Pawtuxet Village?
“Not the weather,” said Justin from the top of a ladder. He was hanging one of the dozens of holiday wreaths in whipping wind and pouring rain on Saturday, Nov. 23 in Pawtuxet.
On a more serious note, Enzo, a fellow scout, said he “enjoyed helping the community.” The Pawtuxet Village Association purchases the wreaths, and the scouts scramble up and down ladders to hang them on the village lamp posts. Scouts also hosted their annual wreath sale on Saturday. The proceeds help defray the cost of camp and other experiences.
“This is about bringing scouting into the community,” said Bill O’Donnell, one of the scout leaders, about Saturday's decorating. “It’s scouting in action.”
Members of the Pawtuxet Village Association Garden Group had more favorable conditions for their activities on Saturday. Under chilly blue skies, they decorated the six flower boxes on the bridge with a mixture of dried flowers, pinecones, juniper and other greens.
