This summer, young creatives will have the chance to explore their talents in a new and inspiring way. School One is proud to announce the Write Rhode Island Creative Institute, a dynamic summer program designed for teens with a passion for visual art and creative writing.
Open to students ages 13–18, the program offers hands-on workshops led by professional artists and writers. With only 8-15 campers per session, students receive individualized attention and thrive in a supportive, collaborative environment. This year, the Institute will host two sessions, July 28–August 1 and August 4–8. Students can attend one or both sessions. In both sessions students will develop original work, build their portfolios, and collaborate with peers in a supportive, studio-style environment.
“We created this program to give teens the time, space, and guidance to explore their creativity and individual voices,” said Diana Champa, Director of Literary Engagement and Program Director. “Whether they’re sketching, painting, journaling, or crafting short stories, every student will leave with a stronger sense of confidence and creativity. This year I’m excited to add some new classes like Travel Writing for Teens, LGBTQ Stories, Anime, and Portraiture to our returning favorites of Dungeons & Dragons, Pottery and Spoken Word Poetry.”
The Write Rhode Island Creative Institute will host two sessions, July 28-August 1 and August 4-8. Space is limited and registration is open. Price for a full week is $250.
