DUI

On January 4 at 7:50 p.m., a WPD officer on patrol noticed a car hit the curb along Main Ave. before swerving over the yellow line and striking the curb again. Following that, the officer decided to initiate a stop; reportedly, the car had stopped on the sidewalk in the area of the intersection of Main Ave. and Tropical Court.

The driver of the car was 34-year-old Nicole Bonvouloir of East Greenwich. Bonvouloir said that she was driving home from Boston; later on, however, she said that she had had four drinks at Dave’s Bar and Grill and asked the officer if Dave’s had “snitched” on her.

Following three separate field sobriety tests, the officer determined that Bonvouloir was unfit to operate a car.

Bonvouloir was arrested and charged with a DUI. A breath test conducted at the Warwick Police station measured her breath alcohol content at .270.

DUI

On January 3 at 9:59 p.m., a WPD officer pulled over a car after witnessing a near-collision on Warwick Ave. reportedly caused by the driver not yielding while turning onto the road.

The driver, 18-year-old Atticus Edwards of Providence, admitted to smoking marijuana, but told the officer that he had not had any drinks. He would later admit that he had had one shot of Tito’s vodka, but only one, and claimed that the marijuana did not impact his driving. The officer noted that Edwards was below the legal age to consume both alcohol and marijuana.

Another responding officer led Edwards through field sobriety tests, which he determined Edwards to have failed.

Following the sobriety tests, Edwards was arrested and charged with a DUI. Edwards measured a breath alcohol content of .042.

DUI

On January 4 at 3:09 a.m., a WPD officer noticed a car at one of the Apponaug rotaries not move at one of the yield signs entering it for a minute, despite there not being any traffic in the rotary. After reportedly seeing more traffic violations, the officer pulled the car over.

The driver of the car was 28-year-old Antonio Quinones of Cranston. He said that he was returning home, and told the officer that he believed that he was in Cranston. Reportedly, Quinones was “extremely disoriented,” was slurring his words and had bloodshot eyes.

Quinones took three separate field sobriety tests and was unable to finish the last one. Following that, Quinones was arrested and charged with a DUI. He refused to submit to a breath test.

SHOPLIFTING

On Nov. 11 at 7:45 p.m., a Warwick police officer responded to the Walmart on Bald Hill Road for a report of a shoplifting in progress.

Walmart’s loss-prevention associate told the officer in November that the two suspects had concealed and removed two unpurchased dash cameras from the store, and provided video surveillance of the incident.

The two shoplifters were identified as Joseph Cevoli, 54, and Wendi Withrow, 52, both of Woonsocket. Both had previous shoplifting convictions.

They were each arrested by the North Smithfield Police Department on Jan. 1 and transferred to Warwick.  Cevoli was arrested and charged with shoplifting on Jan. 1 at 4:30 p.m. Withrow was arrested and charged with the same crime at 5:04 p.m. on that date.
