To the Editor:
Recently I received my first vaccine injection, which was by appointment for the 75 and over residents who live in Warwick. The vaccine site was located in East Greenwich. From the moment my wife and I arrived at the site, we were greeted by a local police officer who directed us where to park and where to enter the site. I was 30 minutes early, which was allowed as I anticipated a long line in the cold outside and an even longer wait inside before being vaccinated.
We found the entrance with no line outside and when entering a man took our temperature and ushered us into a large room where they had set up their vaccination site. We went to a desk and gave my I.D. and received a card with the date and time for my second shot. I then proceeded to a short line for the injection. Within 10 minutes upon our arrival at the site I was injected with the vaccine. We then waited the 15 minutes, which is protocol, and left.
I could not have been more pleased with a public service that was so well organized and extremely caring and friendly. It was supported by local police and fire and other volunteers and all were very courteous and informative. I sincerely recommend using this method as a model for all future vaccination sites throughout the United States.
