As a lifelong socialist myself I can only agree with letter writer Kevin Vealey of Warwick that American workers desperately need a political party that they can call their own. Small " socialist " parties tend to degenerate into personality cults or into bizarre ideological fanaticism. ANY political party is a VANGUARD party only when millions of working people judge it to be just that. Any would- be political leader who thinks he can ignore the reality of Class Struggle in America is useless to all our socio-economic classes.

I find it very disturbing that our Republican Congress finds so much wisdom and instruction in Ayn Rand of all people. Rand's cult classic is " The Virtue of Selfishness ". Senator Ted Cruz has read-in Congress- excerpts from her novel " Atlas Shrugged ". Nothing can be more incompatible with the UNION SPIRIT and working class solidarity than the ideological drivel of the militant atheist, Queen of Mean , Ayn Rand.

Question for you, Kevin Vealey : why should a Labor Party USA " always be in the minority ". Most Americans -most of the American voters- are working class. " Middle class " is becoming nothing more than the all American Day Dream . Unemployed " middle class " types are a few months away from living in their cars !
