“And the result is the under-funding of roads, schools, healthcare and our infrastructure.” Get it? If you greedy Rhode Islanders would only cough up more tax money we could fix all this!! RI presently has the 12th highest gas tax in the country in exchange for the WORST roads and bridges. Somehow, in Mr. Brown's bizarro-world, we're "under-funding" our roads. Some of the highest paid teachers in the country with some of the highest per-pupil expenditures, in exchange for some of the most deplorable measurable outcomes and the second lowest median adult education level in New England. The problem? You guessed it. We're "under-funding" our schools. And on it goes. We've tried it your way, Mr. Brown. Confiscatory taxes, burdensome regulations, a hostility to business, and a bloated system of public sector unions. And this guy wants to double down on the entire system of failed governmental pathology. No thanks.
