Very nicely written and of broad scope Mr. Cervone.- Thank-You.

In addition to your last line I might add; Soldiers die for their brothers and sisters in uniform and to make it back.

Unifying tangible objectives or end states set politically would be a great help and motivator for increased "professionalism" on the field of battle. Unfortunately our politicians cannot seem to step up to the level of diplomacy needed for peace in todays world. As the famous military strategist Von Clausewitz discerned long ago, military intervention is the extension of failed diplomacy for which, I am afraid, we have become numb and accustomed to. So, our hero's in uniform will continue to fight and sadly die until societal interest is lost, the draft comes back then maybe, we'll press our "diplomats" to engage in just that to a like "professional" degree and to perform as we all must.
