Robert so what is the problem? They are entitled to their buyout per contract for sick, vacation and the banked holidays.
They only get 75 % for there sick time on retirment. Had they called out sick and used them all they would have been paid at 100% and someone would have worked at time and a half.
So id rather pay someone 75% for not using his sick day rather than 250% for him to call in sick and have to hire.
Also I'm pretty positive all state employees, judges, sheriffs, teachers, police and fire get the same perk but you have to be relentless with your statistics of the FD.
Do you want to tell a federal judge or the state police e colonel he doesn't deserve his buyout?
