Dozens of professionals recently visited Western Hills Middle School for a Career Day, the first at the school since 2003. Organized by seventh-grade social studies teacher Michaela Horta and guidance counselor Eve Bonitati, the event – which saw groups of students rotate between classrooms for presentations – involved surveying the school’s nearly 700 students to gauge what presenters they wanted to see, and arranging for participants based on the top responses. “The kids need to be exposed to real jobs,” said Horta. “This is just great for the kids,” said Bonitati.
