‘Fizz, Boom, Read’: Summer reading program finishes with a bang

Posted

It was a beautiful afternoon for an outdoor celebration last Friday, marking the end of another successful summer of reading for the patrons of the Oaklawn Library, young and old alike.

The program, entitled “Fizz, Boom, Read,” kicked off in June at all Cranston Public Library locations and finished up last week. Incentives of all kinds were offered for anyone who read over the summer, including entry into a raffle for a Kindle Fire at each branch for all of the youth participants and entry into a raffle for a $100 Amazon gift card for all adult participants. There were weekly crafts and performers at all branches throughout the summer as well.

The finale event was held outdoors on the lawn at the library, carnival style, with face painting, a photo booth, refreshments, free book giveaways, prizes, and the drawing for the Kindle Fire at the end of the day. Luke Jenkins was the winner of that drawing at the Oaklawn Library.
