On Feb. 1, members of Community Against Bullying in Schools, or CABINS – which consists of parents, teachers, social workers, student volunteers, and more – distributed packages of books at the Peter Pastore Youth Center in Cranston.
The books, meant for elementary school libraries, pertain to messages about kindness, acceptance, tolerance, and other positive character traits.
Among the books were signed copies of an entry in Cranston author Laura Clarizio’s “If I Had a Magic Carpet” series.
CABINS received funding through the Peter Pastore Foundation for the initiative. For Cranston, that meant approximately $1,250 worth of reading material for the 17 elementary school libraries. For Coventry, it meant approximately $370 for the five elementary schools libraries.
In addition, the Falcon Pride at Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School of Coventry received a $1,000 donation.
