Mary (McCarthy) Gustafson of Beech Avenue, Cranston RI died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family after a short illness.
Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Doyle) McCarthy and the sister of John McCarthy of Ventura, California and the late Charles McCarthy of Cranston. She was a dedicated and nurturing stay-at-home mom for several years and after her children had grown, was employed for 10 years at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island. She was an avid New England Patriot's fan, even though she refused to watch the games in real time because she was convinced she would jinx them.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Stanley Gustafson; her son David Gustafson, of North Providence, her daughters Mary Ouellette of Cranston, and Debra McKeon and her husband, Edward of Cranston. She was grandmother to Matthew Ouellette of Cumberland, Jessica Ouellette of Lincoln and Cranston, and Edward and Kara McKeon of Cranston.
Calling hours will be Friday June 6, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at Butterfield's Funeral Home, Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI.
