WARRANT

Officer Brenda Sirois reported she was dispatched to Broad and Gallatin Streets around 1:17 a.m. to take custody of a woman who had a bench warrant from Superior Court. She said she met with a Providence patrolman who stopped the woman on another matter and then learned she was wanted in Cranston. Sirois said she took the woman to Cranston headquarters and processed her before transporting Jilliane K. Drywa, 25, of 367 Laurel Hill Ave. in Cranston, to the Women’s Intake Center at the ACI.

FUGITIVE

Officer Michael Long reported seeing a black Cadillac exiting the Gulf gas station in Pawtuxet Village on Aug. 18 with no front plate and a temporary tag taped to the rear window that could not be seen clearly. He said he stopped the car and was approaching it when he saw the occupants moving furtively about and could clearly see a number of hypodermic needles inside the car. He said he had the driver get out of the car and waited for backup to arrive. He said the woman admitted she did not have an active license and explained that the two men in the car were sick from heroin withdrawal and she was driving because they could not. Long said he also found several pipes used to smoke crack cocaine in the car but a search did not turn up any narcotics. He said he did warrant checks on the passengers and one of them came back as wanted in Seekonk and they were willing to extradite him. Jon E. Wooley Sr., 42, of 15 Slater St. in Pawtucket, was taken to headquarters and processed and later transported to District Court. The other passenger had a valid license and took custody of the car.

HIT AND RUN

Officer Ashley Hardy was dispatched to a hit and run accident on Fountain Avenue on Aug. 20. Dispatch advised her that the car that hit a fire hydrant was now parked in the driveway of 53 Fountain St. She said she found a silver BMW with significant front-end damage in the driveway and a trail of fluid leading directly back to the fire hydrant. She said she met with the driver who admitted he hit the hydrant when he lost control of his car near 70 Fountain. She said he gave her the registration and insurance card but admitted he did not have a valid driver’s license. Eddy Tuiz, 23, of 52 Fountain St. was taken to headquarters where he was charged with driving without a license and later released with a summons.

FRAUD CHARGED

Officer Bretton Robbins reported that he was dispatched to Warwick Police headquarters on Aug. 16 to pick up a woman who was wanted in Cranston for credit card fraud since May of this year. Sheila Ann Palumbo, 59, was wanted for defrauding a Warwick man of $1,500, according to the report. She was processed at headquarters and held for arraignment.

CLEANING UP

Det. Joseph Hopkins reported arresting a cleaning woman who was accused of stealing money and other items from a Cranston woman who hired her to clean her house. She said $1,500 she kept in a locked drawer in her bedroom was taken, along with some perfume and an antique watch worth around $300. Hopkins said he contacted the cleaning woman and she agreed to come into headquarters for questioning. He said Eileen Patricia Pennacchia, 59, of 204 Greenville Ave. in Johnston admitted to taking the money and the watch and drinking the whiskey that was in the basement. She was charged with larceny and later released with a summons for District Court.

CHEATING CHARGED

The Rhode Island State Police announced the arrest of a Cranston man for attempting to cheat at roulette at Twin River Casino. On Aug. 30 at 7 p.m., members of the State Police Gaming Enforcement Unit (GEU) arrested Xi Liang Chen, 29, of 761 Park Ave. in Cranston. The State Police said they reviewed surveillance video and observed Chen place one “past post” bet of $500 at the Roulette table. The dealer saw him “past post” the bet and did not pay the wager. If he hadn’t been caught, Chen would have received a $1,000 payout. Chen was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and later released on $5,000 personal recognizance. Twin River Casino Security issued a permanent ejection notification for Chen. Chen is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference in District Court on Nov. 1.
